Description

Both cute and dark in its own unique way, Cult of the Lamb quickly impresses from the very first minutes of gameplay. The game puts you in the role of a resurrected lamb, tasked with building and leading a bizarre cult amidst a dangerous world.

Note: You can also check out other games of the same genre on our website, such as Hades or Dome Keeper.

Cult of the Lamb is a rather unique indie action-simulation game where seemingly contradictory elements are seamlessly combined. Players take on the role of a small lamb sacrificed but fortunately resurrected by a mysterious ancient entity. In return, you must build and lead a cult bearing your name, both to expand your power and to serve the force that saved your life.

Cultt of the Lamb’s gameplay is divided into two distinct but closely linked aspects. On one hand, you engage in roguelike action, fighting in random areas, confronting monsters and bosses to gather resources. On the other hand, you return to your base to build your cult, care for your followers, preach doctrines, organize rituals, and resolve all sorts of problems arising within your community.

What makes Cult of the Lamb so addictive is its flexible gameplay and unique atmosphere. The game isn’t overly stressful, nor is it too easygoing. It gives you the feeling of being both a leader and a warrior, having to make sometimes quite ruthless decisions.

The thing that impressed me most about playing Cult of the Lamb is how fighting and building are close to each other. At first, I believed it was merely a roguelike game with some building for fun. However after playing a while, I noticed that if you just fight and ignore the cult, you will soon run out of gas. On the other hand, if you continue to only care for your followers without going out to gather more, then you won’t get far

This feeling arises because the game doesn’t allow you to shirk responsibility. Every time you return to base, a series of small tasks await you. Some followers are hungry. Some doubt your faith. Some die from disease. Once you’ve dealt with them and everything seems fine, you have to go out and fight again to keep the system running.

Cult of the Lamb makes you into a brutal leader. The game places you in awkward circumstances frequently, but it is unavoidable. After a time playing the game, I find that the cult is never completely peaceful. There have always been unhappy people. There are individuals that doubt you. Some people ask for very strange ritual.

You can choose to be lenient. Or you can choose to be ruthless. The game doesn’t judge immediately. But the consequences always come afterward. At one point, I chose to sacrifice a follower to maintain overall morale.

The good thing is that the game doesn’t turn these decisions into theories. It’s very real. Very direct. You see each follower react. You see who is happy, who is sad, who is rebellious. In later levels, as the cult grows, you start to get used to making quick decisions, sometimes without thinking too long.

Cult of the Lamb’s combat isn’t overly complex. In fact, during my experience, I found it wasn’t the kind of combat that constantly demands high skill. The weapons don’t have too many moves. Dodging, attacking, using skills.

After playing for a while, I realized the combat isn’t about showing off skills, but about setting the pace. After clearing a few rooms, you’re just tired enough. Then you return to base, the pace slows down. Then you go out again. The game is very good at keeping you from being overwhelmed in any one area.

In later levels, the difficulty increases noticeably. There are more monsters. Bosses are more unpredictable. But the game doesn’t use ambushes. You usually die from greed or overconfidence, rarely from cheating. This creates a sense of fairness, although it can be frustrating at times.

The atmosphere is perhaps one of the things that makes Cult of the Lamb unique. The colors are striking. However, the object contains very dark content. The sincere giving up of something valuable or important such as a tangible item, lifestyle or behaviour or even a person for the benefit of another person, group or value. Proposals Implicit trust.

This feeling arises because the game doesn’t hide its nature. It lets you do rather cruel things, but wrapped in adorable visuals. And that makes the player both laugh and feel a little chill down their spine. You laugh because of the visuals. But a few seconds later you realize you just ordered something not so gentle.

Overall, Cult of the Lamb is a very unforgettable experience, not because it’s too complex or too technically demanding, but because of the feeling it leaves you with. The game is fun, dark, relaxing, yet forces you to make uncomfortable decisions.
